We’re Back!

We arrived home late last night from a fun Christmas trip to Seattle! We left Denver last Wednesday, the 23rd and came back yesterday evening, the 29th. I had originally tried to talk Jason into staying longer, but I am glad we came back when we did, so we’d have a few days to recover before jumping back into the full swing of things.

We took the pugs with us, and they were SO GOOD throughout the entire process. They had never flown before, so we had no idea what to expect. We did a few trial runs with them in their carriers in the car, and even took them to the airport a few days before we left (we had to pick my sister up there one night) so they could get used to the sights and sounds, and they (especially Daisy) were pretty wound up. But they were perfect on our trip! I was also a little worried about how they would act in Seattle (Jason’s parents have three dogs and his sister has one), but they were totally fine. Whew!

We did many fun things on our trip and enjoyed being with the family, but I have misplaced my camera so have very few pictures to share with you (I only have ones from my phone). Here is a rundown of what we did:

Wednesday:  Arrived in Seattle, headed home, went out to dinner at a Moroccan restaurant in downtown Seattle (fun!!)

Thursday (Christmas Eve): Relaxed, late lunch with  friends, dinner with Tracy and family, Christmas Eve church service

Friday (Christmas!): Talked to my family on Skype that morning, Christmas lunch at Tracy’s house, hung out with their family all day (they got the awesome new Super Mario Brothers for Wii and Beatles Rock Band!), leftovers for dinner at Tracy’s house, Sharla and family arrived late

Saturday: Relaxed, Pike Place Market (LOVE this place)–chowder for lunch and Russian pastries and Starbucks and gum wall, second Christmas dinner with everyone that night

Sunday: Church, lunch at the casino (buffet with all-you-can-eat crab and shrimp–YUM!), naps, dinner with friends in Seattle

Monday: dog park and breakfast with friends, zoo lights in Tacoma, dinner at Anthony’s at Port Defiance with my high school friend Libby and her husband

Tuesday: Lunch at the mall food court, flight home

We had a great time and enjoyed spending time with family!

Santa Paws and Claws

Last Sunday night, one of the local malls offered Santa pictures with your pets. We went to this same event two years ago and had pretty good luck getting in and out in a reasonable amount of time.

Not so this year! I don’t know if they did a better job advertising or what, but the line was SO long!

We waited 2 1/2 hours to see Santa!!!!! Even I was second-guessing our decision to wait so long. And poor Jason was miserable, but he was actually a pretty good sport about the whole thing. Was it worth it? Still not sure.

WOW, I just realized how long it had been since I last blogged! Unfortunately, there is nothing exciting going around here to blog about. I took my last work trip for the year last week, and I was very glad about that. November was a crazy month for work travel for me, so I am just worn out and ready for a break. And Christmas is in 12 days!! We have most of our Christmas gifts purchased, just need a couple more.

Hope you are all having a great December and are enjoying the holiday season!

Happy Thanksgiving…..

……a few days late!

We had a great Thanksgiving! My family came up from Texas and spent a few days here in Colorado.  They arrived late Tuesday night and stayed with Nessa in Colorado Springs. They came to Denver on Wednesday evening. We had dinner at our house and challenged Josh and his friend Lance to a butter eating contest! We first challenged one of them to eat a stick of butter, but they decided to split the stick of butter and split the prize ($20–so $10 each). And an extra $5 went to the one who finished first!

We got to have Thanksgiving with an Olympic medalist! One of my sister’s friends has two Olympic bronze medals in weightlifting!!
